Understand and control image location metadata
Photos can carry more information than the visible picture. EXIF metadata may include GPS coordinates, camera details, timestamps and descriptive fields. GM GeoTag gives you a focused way to inspect that information and, where supported, create a JPEG with the GPS coordinates you choose.
Browser-first processing
Core image reading and JPEG metadata operations are designed to happen in your browser. Your image is not intentionally sent to a GM GeoTag server for the core workflow.
Coordinate verification
After GPS EXIF is written, the generated JPEG is read again so the tool can compare the stored coordinates with the location you selected.
Clear format limits
JPEG is the primary format for embedded GPS EXIF in this implementation. The site avoids claiming metadata support that it cannot reliably verify.

Can I add GPS coordinates to a JPEG online?
Yes. Open the Image Geotagging Tool, select a JPEG, choose or enter the latitude and longitude, then save the verified output. The core image processing is performed in the browser.
Does GM GeoTag upload my photo?
The core geotagging workflow is designed to process the image locally in your browser rather than upload the image to a GM GeoTag processing server. Map and place-search features can make separate network requests, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Can I check whether an image already has a location?
Yes. The tool reads available EXIF information and reports whether GPS coordinates are present. You can also use the dedicated EXIF Viewer for a broader metadata check.
Will GPS EXIF work in PNG or WebP?
The reliable GPS-writing workflow is focused on JPEG/JPG. PNG and WebP may be accepted for selected browser operations, but the site does not claim standard embedded GPS EXIF output for them where it cannot verify that result.
Why should I remove GPS metadata before sharing a photo?
GPS metadata can reveal where a photo was taken. If location privacy matters, inspect the metadata first and use the Remove EXIF tool or another trusted metadata-removal workflow before publishing the image.
